With historic eclipse just hours away, urban visitors frustrated by lack of commemorative t-shirts, hats and coffee mugs.
"We drove all the way up from Jersey City, and now I have to go back empty handed?," said Tammy Millberger, echoing the sentiment of some fellow Pondering Lake visitors, who came to take advantage of the wide open skies above our lake. While most acknowledge that seeing the eclipse itself is pretty cool, for Tammy, it amounts to a hollow victory without so much as a lapel button to show off back home. "I could have gone to any street corner in New York, and got t-shirts for my whole family for like, forty bucks; but now, by the time I get back, everything will be sold out." Without internet or cell service on the island, Tammy won't even be able to check in via social media. Not sure if she knows that yet.
